Hi to all
Well, we are now really heading to the business end of the South Australian Minimoto Titles!
The Racing held so far has been totally awesome and the quality of competition has been as good as any held in Australia. All who have supported the SA Titles are truly to be commended for their participation and sportsmanship.
I really do look forward to the next round, the 5th and Final round Boral Quarries round to be held at Pooraka on the 8th of November 2008. I ask that all who have competed in the SA Titles for any of the rounds try to make this Round as it will be an event not to be missed. I say this as I look at the Leaders Board and there are a few classes that will be closely contended coming right down to the wire and will be decided in this last round.
Also just a reminder that SAMRA will be having the Trophy presentation for the SA titles at Pooraka November 22nd 2008 at the track .This will also be a Xmas show too, with there being a few novelty events being scheduled. Presentations to start at 5.00pm and riding will be after.
At the Last SAMRA Committee meeting there was a discussion about JUNIOR STANDARD CAG and it was voted on and decided by the committee and members that JUNIOR STANDARD CAG is to be that. It is to be raced as a true standard class and the bikes are to remain as they are from out of the box. This includes the exhaust which is to remain standard too. No performance up grades allowed.
This Decision was made on the basis to help better develop the juniors .The seniors will remain the same in Standard Cag no changes to that class. I will change the rule on the site as soon as possible…That reminds me too these changes are for our next season and the remaining round will stay as it is.

Fast times at the Pits

The 2nd round of the Australian Minimoto Championships was held over the weekend at the Port Elliot track “The Pits”.
This event was truly a national competition as riders came from QLD, VIC, TAS and SA to compete in their various classes.
The racing on this track was as good as it gets especially with one of the biggest classes being Senior open elite water cooled. In this class all of the bikes are from European origin with the bikes being made in countries such as Italy, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia. This class had a huge field of riders, 19 to be exact. With a track of only 540 metres and the riders reaching an estimated speed of about 90 kilometres per hour the action was riveting .This was a first for Minimotos as many of these riders have never had the chance to compete against each other on a national level. In this class it was Victoria’s Con Mazzarella on his Italian built GRC bike that won this round, closely contested by another Victorian rider Peter Smith.
The South Australian riders also fared well in their various classes.
One rider who did exceptionally well was Brandon Bruin who won Junior open air cooled elite, once again these bikes are also built in Europe and Brandon’s Blata bike which is made in Czechoslovakia proved to be very fast and reliable taking him to victory once again. He has won 2 of the 3 rounds held and hopes to make it a clean sweep by winning in the Victorian round to be held later this year.
Another rider who excelled in his class was Graham Cederblad also from SA .His class being Senior open air cooled elite. Graham was the silent achiever by running a consistent 2nd in every heat on his Italian made Polini bike to take the win of the overall round in his class.
Motards were also raced at the Pits and it was the Queenslanders that dominated these classes in both junior and senior. However the Tasmanian senior rider Jon Hughes did well to take overall 2nd for this round.
The Pits and the South Australian Minimoto Racing Association “SAMRA” would like to thank the following for their Sponsorships.
Middleton Tavern, Orca’s taxi service, Ocean Blue Newsagency, Harborview Deli, Repco Auto Parts, The Chicken Run, Port Elliot fish shop, Port Elliot Tourist Park, Check it Out Graphics, Team Kiwi and Pooraka Raceway, with out their support this event would not have happened.

Over 40's standard cag racing

Hi to all
I have had a suggestion from a few of the SAMRA members that we have an over 40's standard cag race class. I think this is a terrific idea and will be running this class at the next social race meet.
One thing I ask for this class is please keep the bikes stock standard as they come out of the box.
No removal of metal from the motor.
Tyres can be open.
Exhaust to be either fat boy, jet pro wave pipe or standard.
Carby to be standard or SHA 15mm Delorto rep ,no greater venturi than 15.2mm

You all may wonder why I have opted for open tyres in this class but as it is for over 40's well..... we don't bounce as well as some of you younger riders and I would like to try and make this class a bit more safer for all of us older riders.
I have found in the past that the Zhonga tyres don't take our weight well at all and tend to slide out fairly easily.
If you have any queries regarding this class feel free to contact me. Andrew on mobile 0402981339
